Victoria Park – North Vancouver

August 21st, 2010

If you have ever walked or driven along Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver, you definitely have seen a nice park on both sides of yours from 7th to 8th street. This park, with its central location, is called “Victora Park”. There are some monuments of World War and World War 2 in the park, to recall everyone of those great heros fought for the freedom of not only Canada but the whole world. This is how it looks like.

The place is known as “North Vancouver Cenotaph”. For more information about this monument please visit this webpage (War Monuments Website).

This is the map of the area, in case you want to get to Victoria Park.

Once, I was waiting at the bus stop on Lonsdale to get to the Lonsdale Quay, while I shot this video. This is a short video showing around the bus stop and Victoria Park.

There is a nice horse sculpture, as it can be seen in the video, in Victoria Park. I have found a picture of it online and this is it:

You can learn more about this horse sculpture clicking this link. Apparently this sculpture is only 3 years old and has been made in 2007.

Lighthouse Park

June 15th, 2010

Last weekend, and more specifically on June 12th, I and some of my friends have visited a park in west vancouver called Lighthouse park. It has a nice trail, which is categorized as an easy one and nice views. The name of the park is based on the fact that there is a lighthouse there, prompting ships and boats where the land begins in order to keep their distance and not crash.
It was a sunny day, lots of people had been there for a walk or sun bathing. There was also an amateur model was being taken picture of.
I had taken so many pictures there. The one I really like is the one below, I make a panorama picture out of images I took. The image is almost 2 megabytes in size, so you need to have patience or high speed of internet to view it completely.

Seabus Journey

June 9th, 2010

You should have heard about Seabus if you have been to Vancouver or planning to. Seabus is a bus moving on the Sea (actually Pacific Ocean) and transfers people from North Shore (North Vancouver) to Downtown Vancouver. The capacity of Seabus is huge. It is so huge that at the time of Vancouver 2010 Olympics it was compared to the capacity of an airplane and professionals were discussing the issue of security and terrorist attacks on that.

Anyway, I got a video while sitting in Seabus. It is a view while siting in Seabus and looking outside and watching ocean. It was a sunny day and hope you enjoy the view and scenery.

Ocean’s club

May 30th, 2010

oceans club 300x199 Oceans clubThis Saturday night we have been to ocean’s club. The only club in west and north Vancouver, there is actually no clubs in north Vancouver. As we used to get into lineups and wait a long time till we get into clubs, we hurried and get there around 10:30, oops it doesn’t sound a lot soon to you, but it is a best time record for me. However, there wasn’t any need for that much haste. There wasn’t a lineup at the door and no charges. You expect more from a club / lounge at that time of the week. There was a free photo booth there, called horitons (or pixtars) photo booth. It took free photos and probably post them online. (I’ll update the post with the photo booth site when I find it.) (link: pixtars)

The atmosphere was great too, there were some people around and as we get closer to the closing time the crowd was getting higher and started to dance and giggle. If you are a crazy clubber, ocean’s club will not be a good choice for you. You don’t find crazy people but more classic type of guys and gals there. There won’t be a cover charge and no lineups, ones I am always concerned about.

One Citizen

May 22nd, 2010

After a long discussion with my mind ( :-D ), we have decided to go for onecitizen.ca as my main domain name. 1Vancouverite is a really great choice for a domain name and as I was living in Vancouver, it was fitting my personality. However, soon I am going to be a Canadian, So One Citizen would be a greater choice to have.

One Citizen would also suits more what I am going to cover in this weblog. Materials and articles related to Canada (and mostly about Vancouver), its politics. It is a new start for this weblog and I am going to make the best out of it.

UGrill at Metrorown

May 6th, 2010

UGrill was my favourite store to visit and make my stomach full whenever I visit Metrotown. Ugrill offered a wide variety of items to choose from, pork, chicken, mushrooms, shrimps, anything you can think of. You choose the ingredients yourself and based on the weight of your dish you pay.
I usually was charged for about 8 or 9 bucks for a full dish but the last time I visit UGrill they have charged me 12 bucks. My friend was charged 15 bucks. Imagine what you can get for 15 bucks in a resturant or in a bar. I am not going to go there anymore, it is a waste of money. I can pick many many better places to spend 15 bucks than waiting in a line, picking my own food and then sit in a loud, noisy and crowded area and not enjoy my meal

The complete information for UGrill are as follow:

Address: 4700 Kingsway, #312
Burnaby, BC V5H4P1

Telephone: (604) 435-2320
